50:35
Are Republicans going to vote for THRIVE or care about it? We already know this answer.
Jack Hammond
50:44
I am concerned that the emphasis is on material construction, which however important, takes a toll on the environment. Does the thrive agenda look at the kinds of jobs, and have a place for those (care, education etc.) that raise people up but don't have such a material footprint ?
Justin Wood
50:51
Echoing what Roxanne said! Power plant and port air pollution are so noticeable on Staten Island. And there is so much untapped renewable energy potential, and failed local GOP “leaders”
Nicole Ferraro
50:54
Have to head to another meeting so will look out for the recording for the rest - thank you!
Ira Rosh
52:01
Also, that reconciliation is limited to two, maybe three bills a year
Jack Hammond
52:34
Actually one a year. A second one (and even more) are possible on the pretext that they are amendments to the one that has already gone through
Adam Flint
53:10
I joined late. Will the recording and deck go out to registrants, and if so, when?
Sabrina Chapa
53:23
we have to make sure displaced and Immigrant Indigenous communities are apart of these processes as well as Indigenous communities who aren't state or federally recognized, along with those that are, and those who's lands we are on.
Sarah Reeske
53:25
Hi Adam, yes and within 24 hours.

QUESTION (I am repeating because I forgot to tag it as a question) I am concerned that the emphasis is on material construction, which however important, takes a toll on the environment. Does the thrive agenda look at the kinds of jobs, and have a place for those (care, education etc.) that raise people up but don't have such a material footprint ?
Sarah Reeske

I’m copying questions and anything that Nora and I can’t answer, we will bring to Ann on our Policy team to help get you answers.

Question: In the information age, access to broadband is indispensable. Could providing broadband access as part of public assistance benefits like SNAP and rental subsidies be incorporated into the thrive agenda?
Mark Schaeffer
58:45
Sorry to join late, health issue. Not new to THRIVE, have been promoting it for months. I was on a call with Schumer Saturday, got to ask him about THRIVE (he is an original sponsor), whether he would work to make Biden’s infrastructure/jobs bill follow THRIVE principles, he said yes, to the extent possible.
Sarah Reeske
58:51
Please help get lots of people to the town hall 4/9 at 6:30. https://actionnetwork.org/events/climate-justice-town-hall-with-senator-schumer-and-more?clear_id=true

QUESTION are Schumer and Gillibrand holding out on endorsing?
Sheila Newman
01:04:36
Our Senators are quite stalwart on Thrive. I thank them
Sarah Reeske
01:04:57
Jack, Schumer and Gillibrand have endorsed the THRIVE Resolution. Not many Senators have.
Pat Truscelli
01:05:51
Feel like we should be thanking our senators, who already support THRIVE
Sarah Reeske
01:06:09
Pat, it’s great that they are on board, and now we need them to take action.
Nan Faessler
01:07:13
Sorry I need to jump off. Thanks to Nora and Sarah for this presentation.
Mark Schaeffer
01:07:45
Important fact, from IPCC SR15 report (2018) which made the scientific case to hold global temp rise below +1.5C over pre-industrial level: temp rise over land is about twice global average, bc most of earth’s surface is water & heating is distributed deeper. So doubling 1.5 gives +3C over land, but Americans understand Farenheit, so increase over land would be +5F which sounds more serious (equiv to body temp 103.6F).
Barbara BrittHysell
01:07:54
I have to take a phone cal!!! Bummer.
Barbara BrittHysell
01:08:03
maybe I will get back to listen.
